Last year I received news that no one wants to get — a cancer diagnosis. Two months later I had a lumpectomy. Fortunately, my case has been mild compared to others. I am very grateful for that, and the care I continue to receive at The Beekley Center and Bristol Hospital.

To celebrate a year of no cancer recurrence, I have set a goal to make at least four sets of Knitted Knockers for the Beekley Center during the month of October.
Want to join me in making prosthetics for breast cancer survivors and thrivers? I will be knitting my knockers two at a time, magic loop method. There is a pattern for every knitter — dpns, magic loop and even crochet!
If knitting prosthetics isn’t your thing below is a list of other charities that make items for cancer survivors and thrivers:
- Quilts That Care
- Knots of Love
- Magic Yarn Project
- Warm Up America
- Sew an Anti-ouch Pouch
- SewPINK ByAnnie
- List of fun projects
- Contact your local cancer center for their favorite charities.
Do you have a favorite pattern to make for charities? I would love to see what you make for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Share in the comments.
Be well,
Dawn, The Stitching Coach

Your article on cleaning your tools was super informative and what a lot of work composing! Wish I had known how to get your blog sooner. Now I have lots of interesting reading! Thanks for the special e-mail about your trip to Missouri. I did actually read it on your website a couple of days ago. What a pal Jose is to take all these cute pictures of you and your creations!
